Give your leaders an energizing, enjoyable and effective leadership program that meets your specific goals.
Are you looking for something different to help your leaders learn and experience effective leadership? Jim Donovan's Conscious Leadership Programs may be just what you are looking for.
Education research studies show that concepts rooted in physical experiences support longer retention. In this program, your leaders will experience, in a very physical and enjoyable way, a variety of key leadership concepts using the level playing field of interactive rhythm and drumming. Your participants need no "musical ability" or prior knowledge whatsoever to have an effective and powerful experience.
Groups of 20 to 1000. All instruments are provided.
Here are a few of the many potential learning goals we can integrate into your program.
1. Recognizing when the group is aligned with its shared purpose and how that alignment affects the overall result.
2. Identifying how our mistakes can equal new learning.
3. Identifying and illustrating failures in leadership.
4. Determining how motivation, body language, clear communication, and positive emotional relationships enhance performance.
Here are brief descriptions of two leadership modules:
Progressive Creation in 3 Rounds :: Leadership Module 1
In
a nutshell, I spend the first ten minutes of the program breaking the
ice, and creating a sense of openness and relaxation among your group
members through a variety of simple, yet powerful preparatory rhythm
exercises.
Next I guide the group through an exercise I call
the "Rhythmic Leadership Module" where I set up 3 short rounds of
group music creation. As strange as it might sound, I use the idea of a
"set-up failure" in the first round as a way to interactively and
physically learn several key leadership concepts which I detail below.
In the first round,
participants are given very little information on how exactly to do
what is being asked, nor or they given any specific expectations. On
their own the group is left to sink or swim in their first attempt at
music creation. Regardless of the outcome of this first round, I then
guide the group for a few moments to process and assess themselves
based on what they just experienced. Then I take suggestions as to how
we can make our group creation better on the second round.
In the second round,
participants have more information and experience and as a result the
outcome is usually significantly better. However, "better" isn't good
enough. A world class organization expects world class outcomes and
so during the set up for the third and final round we take another few
moments to process and solicit ways we can take the music we're
making go from good to tremendous.
During the third and final round,
I go to great lengths to encourage and motivate the group so that
they reach their goal of a powerful group musical creation that is
simultaneously in sync as well as individually expressive. Directly
following this module, we'll take a few moments to contrast the first
from the third round and then connect what we've learned to everyday
leadership as well as everyday life.
We
cap the event off with a 60 second exercise called "The Rumble" which
is exactly as it sounds. The rumble gives everyone an opportunity to
just cut loose, be loud and just let go. My goal is to leave everyone
smiling, rejuvenated and ready to tackle whatever comes next in your
event.
Group Facilitation :: Leadership Module 2
First, everyone in the room will learn simple, verbal and body language based drum circle facilitation skills. Next, your leaders will take turns using the skills they've learned as they feel the power of leading while serving the group. Lastly, the leaders will have an opportunity to give and get feedback on their experience.
Jim Donovan's Interactive Rhythmic Leadership Programs focus on the following key concepts.
1. Recognizing when the group is aligned on their shared purpose and how it affects the overall result
2. Identifying how their mistakes can equal new learning
3. Identifying and illustrating failures in leadership
4. Generalizing how motivation and positive emotional relationships enhance performance
This program works very well as either a stand alone program or as a complementary activity to a larger training.
Give your leaders an energizing, enjoyable and effective leadership program that meets your specific goals.

I use two main approaches when facilitating the Rhythmic Leadership Training. We can design your program using one or both of the approaches.
